Srinagar, Mar 12 (KNO): Jumat-ul-Vida, the last Friday of the holy month of Ramadan, will be observed across Jammu and Kashmir on Friday.
Grand Mufti Nasir-ul-Islam, per news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), said Jumat-ul-Vida will fall on March 13 this year, as the following Friday may coincide with Eid-ul-Fitr.
Meanwhile, Anjuman Auqaf Jama Masjid held a meeting chaired by Mirwaiz Mirwaiz Umar Farooq to finalise arrangements for Jumat-ul-Vida, Shab-e-Qadr and Eid-ul-Fitr.
The Auqaf expressed hope that authorities will allow congregational prayers and religious gatherings at the historic Jamia Masjid in the old city after nearly seven years.
It said coordination will be ensured with concerned government departments to facilitate smooth conduct of prayers.
GOVT DECLARES JUMAT-UL-VIDA HOLIDAY
Meanwhile, the Government of Jammu and Kashmir has announced a change in the date of the public holiday on account of Jumat-ul-Vida, the last Friday of the holy month of Ramadan.
According to an official order, which is in the possession of the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), issued as a partial modification to Government Order No. 1894-JK(GAD) of 2025 and Government Order No. 1895-JK(GAD) of 2025 dated December 12, 2025, the holiday will now be observed on March 13, 2026 (Friday) instead of the earlier notified date of March 20, 2026 (Friday) across the Union Territory.
With the revised notification, all government offices, educational institutions, and other public sector establishments in the Union Territory will now observe the holiday tomorrow—(KNO)
